the sound tree
3D audio stories for children
1995 - ongoing
After a lengthy absence, the Sound Tree is back.
The octophonic listening environment for children has been completely
revamped with the help of French scenographer Sylvain Boisvert.
The Sound Tree will tell the epic urban sci-fi tale Operation Sunflower,
first heard in the context of Brussels European Capital of Culture 2000.
The Sound Tree - Glasgow - Kelvingrove Museum 2000
The Sound Tree is an automated storytelling device using
octophonic sound spatialization, capable of conveying a
broad range of ideas and emotions.
The Sound Tree is both a storyteller and a
listening environment. His tales immerse the
children in a three-dimensional world of sound -
a 'cinema for the ears'. They are free to generate
their own visualization of the characters and events.
